It is a medicated oral gel formulated with benzocaine as the active ingredient for the local relief of dental pain and oral mucosa.
It comes in a 6 ml format.
Suitable for use in adults and children from 6 years of age.
Apply Hurricaine Gel 3 to 4 times a day on the affected area with small dabs.
Do not use Hurricaine Gel:
In children under 6 years of age.
In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the components present in this medicine.
Avoid in patients with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, haemoglobin-M disease, ADH and pyruvate kinase deficiency.
Do not take with sulphonamides, hyaluronidase, cholinesterase inhibitors.
Avoid during pregnancy and lactation.
Like all medicines, Hurricaine Gel may cause side effects. In particular, the following have been observed: contact dermatitis, dysgeusia, burning sensation, blood and lymphatic system disorders.
The active substance in Hurricaine Gel is benzocaine. Each gram contains the active substance benzocaine 200 mg. The other excipients are: Polyethylene glycol 400, Polyethylene glycol 3350, Saccharin, Cherry flavouring.
This treatment should not be used before eating or drinking, as it may cause coughing during the meal. Do not eat while the numbness continues, to avoid choking or biting of the tongue.
The duration should be as short as possible, and hands should be washed after each application. If during application, the patient experiences headache, dizziness, shallow breathing, nausea, fatigue or tachycardia, a doctor should be consulted.
If after 2 days of treatment the patient does not improve or gets worse, seek medical advice.
