Ellaone 30 mg Emergency Contraceptive 1 Tablet

Ellaone is an emergency contraceptive medicine to be taken within 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex or when the usual method has failed.

It comes in a pack of 1 tablet.

Suitable for all women of childbearing age, including adolescents.

Take 1 tablet orally as soon as possible, but no later than 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure.

The tablet can be taken at any time during the menstrual cycle.

If vomiting occurs within three hours of taking the tablet, another tablet should be taken.

Do not use ellaOne:

• In case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

• As a regular method of contraception.

• If you are pregnant.

Caution during breast-feeding. It is recommended that breast-feeding be interrupted for at least one week after administration of ulipristal acetate as an emergency contraceptive. During this week, it is recommended to express and discard breast milk in order to stimulate lactation.

Like all medicines, ellaOne may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. In this case, the most frequently reported adverse reactions were headache, nausea, abdominal pain and dysmenorrhoea, although there are other rare or infrequent reactions.

The active substance in ellaOne is ulipristal acetate. Each tablet contains 30 milligrams of ulipristal acetate. The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, polyvidone, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.

This tablet can be taken at any time of the cycle and of the day, either before, during or after a meal.

It is very important to note that it should not be used as a regular contraceptive and that if you have sex after taking it you should use a condom as a method of contraception until your next period.
