What is Dalsydol for?

Dalsydol Duo is used in cases where we suffer pain, but require stronger analgesia than with paracetamol alone or ibuprofen alone. We take it so that they act in synergy when we need a stronger analgesic action. But for short-term pain, acting as an analgesic and inflammatory.

How to take Dalsydol Duo, 20 tablets

This medicine is taken orally. The recommended dose is one tablet with water and preferably with food, especially if the patient has gastrointestinal problems. Up to a maximum of 3 times a day.

Before taking Dalsydol

Do not take Dalsydol Duo if you are

  • You are already taking any other medicines containing paracetamol.
  • You are taking any other painkillers, including ibuprofen, high doses of acetylsalicylic acid (more than 75 mg a day), or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including specific cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors.
  • You are allergic to ibuprofen, paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
  • You have had an allergic reaction in the past, such as difficulty in breathing, asthma attacks, swelling of the nasal mucosa, rash and swelling of the nose (angioedema).You have had an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, swelling of the nasal mucosa, rash and swelling (angioedema) of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or skin reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAID painkillers.
  • You have or have ever had a recurrent ulcer or bleeding in the stomach or duodenum (part of the small intestine) (at least two separate confirmed bleeding episodes or an ulcer).
  • You have had previous gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration or perforation caused by treatment with an NSAID.
  • You have blood (clotting) disorders;
  • You have severe heart failure, severe liver or kidney failure.
  • You are in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Side effects

  • Signs of intestinal bleeding (severe stomach pain, vomiting blood or liquid that looks like coffee granules, blood in the stool, black tarry stools) (rare).
  • Signs of inflammation of the lining of the brain such as stiff neck, headache, nausea or vomiting, fever or feeling disorientated.
  • Signs of a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms include swelling of the face, tongue and throat, difficulty breathing, rapid heart rate and low blood pressure.
  • Asthma, wheezing, shortness of breath.
  • Severe blistering skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis (very rare).
  • Severe skin reaction known as DRESS syndrome. Symptoms of DRESS include: rash, fever, swollen lymph nodes and an increase in eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) (frequency not known).
  • Severe skin reaction known as PEGA (acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis). This is a generalised red, scaly rash with bumps under the skin and blisters located mainly in the skin folds, trunk and upper extremities, accompanied by fever at the start of treatment (very rare).

Precautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take this medicine if you are:

  • Are an elderly patient.
  • You have an infection (see section "Infections" below).
  • You have asthma or have had asthma.
  • You have kidney, heart, liver or bowel problems;
  • You have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a condition of the immune system that affects connective tissue and causes joint pain, skin changes and disruption of other organs, or other mixed connective tissue disease.
  • You have gastrointestinal disorders or chronic inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease).
  • You are in the first 6 months of pregnancy or are breast-feeding.
  • You are planning to become pregnant.

Pharmaceutical advice

Do not take more than six tablets a day. It is advisable to take with meals to avoid damage to the stomach from the active ingredients.
