Cystine is a medicine whose active ingredient is an amino acid that forms part of keratin, a protein that is a fundamental constituent of the skin, hair and nails.
It is indicated for the treatment of cystine deficiency, which may manifest itself in the form of hair loss and/or brittle nails.
Intended for use in adults and adolescents over 14 years of age.
During pregnancy and lactation, use only under medical prescription.
The recommended dose is 4 to 6 tablets a day, spread over the three main meals, and with the help of a little water.
If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 15-30 days of treatment, discontinue treatment and consult a doctor.
Do not use Cystine:
In case of allergy to L-cystine or to any of the excipients.
If you suffer from cystinosis, an inherited disease with possible formation of kidney stones.
No adverse effects from the use of Cystine have been reported.
The active substance is L-cystine. Each tablet contains 250 mg L-cystine. The other excipients are: Maize starch (gluten-free), sucrose and talc.
Cystine comes in the form of white, biconvex tablets.
