Tablets to treat and prevent calcium deficiency, and as a supplement in the treatment of osteoporosis.

It is a medicine intended to treat and prevent calcium deficiency, as an adjuvant in the treatment of osteoporosis and as a chelator in hyperphosphatemia.
It comes in a pack containing 60 chewable tablets.
Suitable for use in adults and paediatric population.
The dosage should be determined by a doctor, depending on the patient's pathology. In general, however, it is as follows:
Adults: the recommended dose in adults is 500 to 1500 mg of calcium per day.
Children: the recommended dose in children is 500 to 1000 mg of calcium per day.
Do not use Mastical 500 mg:
In case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
In patients with kidney stones, diseases and/or situations giving rise to hypercalcaemia and/or hypercalciuria.
In patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.
In conjunction with thiazide diuretics.
Like all medicines, Mastical may cause side effects. In this case, the following have been observed:
Infrequent: hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, constipation, flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea.
Very rare: milk-alkali syndrome, pruritus, exanthema, urticaria.
The active substance inMastical is 1250 mg calcium carbonate, equivalent to 500 mg calcium. The other excipients are: Xylitol (E967), Povidone, Isomalt (E 953), Flavouring (orange), Magnesium stearate, Sucralose (E955), Mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids.
These tablets should be chewed or sucked.
If you take levothyroxine, you should separate your calcium intake by at least 4 hours.
If you take quinolones, you should take the calcium 2 hours before or 6 hours after the quinolones.
Iron, zinc or strontium ranelate preparations should be taken at least 2 hours before or after calcium carbonate.
Tetracycline preparations should be taken at least two hours before or four to six hours after oral calcium intake.
