What is Voltadol patches and what is it used for?

Voltadol dressings are a pain relieving medicine, belonging to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), for pain associated with acute strains, sprains or bruises of the arms and legs as a result of blunt injuries in adolescents from 16 years of age and older and in adults.

Who it is intended for

Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 16 years of age.

How to use Voltadol patches?

The recommended dose is one medicated sticking plaster once a day.

The instructionsfor use are as follows:

Cut the envelope along the dotted line and remove the adhesive dressing, remove one of the two protective films, apply the dressing to the area to be treated and remove the remaining protective film, apply light pressure with the palm of the hand until complete adhesion to the skin is achieved.

To remove the dressing:

1. Moisten the dressing with water, peel off one edge of the dressing and gently pull it away from the skin.

2. To remove any product residue, wash the affected area with water by gently rubbing the area with your fingers in a circular motion.

Composition

The active substance in Voltadol patches is diclofenac sodium. Each medicated adhesive dressing contains diclofenac in the form of 140 mg diclofenac sodium. Outer layer: Polyester non-woven material. Adhesive layer: Polyacrylate dispersion, tributyl citrate and butylated hydroxyanisole. Protective coating: Silicone monolayer coated paper.

Contraindications

Do not use Voltadol patches:

  • In children under 16 years of age.
  • If you are allergic to diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
  • If you are allergic to any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
  • If you have ever had asthma attacks, hives, or swelling and irritation inside your nose after taking aspirin or any other NSAID.
  • If you have an active stomach or duodenal ulcer;
  • If you have skin lesions (e.g. skin abrasions, cuts, burns), infected skin or skin affected by inflammation (exudative dermatitis) or eczema.
  • If you are in the last three months of pregnancy.

Side effects

Voltadol dressings may cause side effects, as with all medicines on the market. In this case, the following have been observed:

  • Frequent: local skin reactions, such as reddening of the skin, burning sensation, itching, redness of inflamed skin, rash, sometimes with pustules or hives.
  • Very rare: hypersensitivity reactions or local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis).
  • Frequency unknown: in patients using externally medicinal products from the same group of active substances as diclofenac, there have been isolated reports of generalised skin rash, hypersensitivity reactions such as swelling of the skin and mucous membranes and anaphylactic-type reactions with acute disturbances of circulation regulation and light sensitivity reactions. If you have injured, hit or bruised an area of the body such as the limbs, ankles or any other part of the body and you feel a sharp pain, use Voltadol medicated sticky patches once a day for a period of no more than 1 week.
