Do not use Hansaterm 4.8 mg Medicated Adhesive Dressing:
Under 12 years of age.
If allergic to cayenne pepper, or to any of the excipients present in this medicine.
On areas of skin with lesions or wounds.
Hansaterm may cause side effects, as with all medicines. In this case, it should be noted that the active substance in the formulation causes an increase in blood circulation with a pronounced reddening of the skin and a sensation of warmth. This reaction is part of the normal effect of the preparation and usually subsides within a short time after removal of the dressing.
The following rare side effects may also occur: hypersensitivity (allergic) skin reactions with redness, itching and blistering at the application site. If this occurs, the dressing should be removed and treatment discontinued.
The active substance of Hansaterm is Cayenne pepper extract. Each medicated adhesive dressing contains 112-167 mg of Cayenne pepper extract. The solvent of the extract is 80 % (v/v) ethanol.
The other excipients are: liquid glucose; purified water; 2,2'-methylene-bis-(6-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol); 2,2'-(propane-1,2-di-yl-di-iminodimethyl) diphenol; iris root powder/rice flour blend; rubber; poly (butadiene-block-styrene) (76.5:23.5); cis-1,4-poly-isoprene; talc (E553b); beta-pinene homopolymer; poly (2-methylbutyl-2-ene-co-penta-1,3-diene); hydrogenated rosin ester with glycerol; light liquid paraffin; wool grease; viscose fabric (dressing backing); silicone paper on one side (protective paper).
To remove the dressing, lift one corner and carefully peel off the protective film. After handling and touching the dressing, hands should be washed with soap and water.
Any residue that may remain on the skin after removal of the dressing can be removed with vegetable oil, moisturiser or cold water.
