FontActiv clear thickener is an instant powder for liquid and semi-solid foods, which can be hot or cold. It contains no added sugars, sweeteners, gluten or lactose. It is made from xanthan gum and is transparent.
Fontactiv is a clear thickener made for adding to water, milk and juices to give them a thicker texture. It is suitable for improving the viscosity and texture of foods and giving body, volume and consistency to different preparations. It is a neutral product that does not modify the taste or smell of food and that, once added to liquids or semi-solids, remains stable over time. It is resistant to saliva and maintains its consistency on contact with saliva. By using this thickener, uniform, regular and highly viscous preparations can be achieved without requiring an excessive amount of the product.
Xanthan gum, one of its main active ingredients, is very safe, strong and firm when acting on thickened liquids. In addition, Fontactiv thickener helps patients with certain conditions to be adequately hydrated and nourished while protecting against bronchoaspiration. Fontactiv clear thickener has a spoon dosage system for each desired level of thickness and dissolves very easily without forming lumps. Fontactiv thickened foods can be heated, refrigerated and frozen without losing their viscosity or changing their nutritional properties.
Fontactiv thickener is indicated for adults who have a condition in which they have difficulty swallowing and chewing. It is also for those who, due to age, loss of teeth or reduced salivation, muscle strength and motor coordination, have impaired swallowing of food (presbiphagia). Likewise, for those individuals who have problems moving the food bolus from the mouth to the stomach (oropharyngeal dysphagia). On the other hand, it is an ideal food for those who are at risk of bronchial aspiration.
Add the amount of thickener according to the desired consistency and then quickly add the liquid in question to hydrate the thickener. Then stir vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds and allow to stand for 3 minutes before use. For every 100 ml of liquid, 1 teaspoon for nectars, 2 teaspoons for honey and 3 teaspoons for puddings. For a puree, add to desired consistency.
