Peroxiben 50 mg/G Gel 60 g

It is a gel medicine formulated with 50 mg/g of benzoyl peroxide, an active ingredient with antimicrobial and sebostatic properties that stops the growth of Propionibacterium acne, the microorganism that causes acne.

It comes in a tube containing 60g of product at a concentration of 50mg/g.

Designed for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age who suffer from moderate acne vulgaris.

Wash and dry the skin before applying a small amount of gel to the area to be treated. It can be used once or twice a day, depending on skin tolerance and intensity of treatment.

It is recommended to start the medication with Peroxiben 2.5%, as it contains the lowest dose of this active ingredient. Once tolerance has been checked, it is possible to switch to Peroxiben 5%, or even to 10% mg if after 3-4 weeks the skin accepts the product well.

Improvement is usually seen after the first 4-6 weeks of treatment, although longer use may be necessary.

Do not use Peroxiben 5%:

• In children under 12 years of age.

• In case of allergy to the active substance or any of the excipients present in this medicinal product.

• On areas of damaged or eczematous skin, or on cuts or abrasions.

Special care should be taken by people with very sensitive skin, as its use may cause skin irritation and some redness.

Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding, unless prescribed by a doctor.

Peroxiben 5% mg may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines on the market. In this case, the following have been observed:

• Very frequent: slight burning sensation on first application together with the appearance of moderate redness, dryness and peeling of the skin a few days after starting treatment. In addition, the following may occur during the first weeks of treatment: increased scaling, redness, itching and pruritus in most patients, which usually disappears within a few days after discontinuation of treatment.

• Rare: allergic dermatitis.

• Unknown frequency: temporary facial swelling, dermatitis or rash.

Each gram of Peroxiben gel contains 50 mg of benzoyl peroxide as the main active ingredient. The other excipients are: glycerol (E-422), aloe vera gel, carbomer, acrylic copolymer, simethicone, sodium hydroxide (E-524), disodium edetate, dioctylsulphosuccinate sodium and purified water.

Peroxiben is a drug gel that is widely used in the treatment of acne and can be combined with other treatments for this common skin problem.

Thanks to the different formats and concentrations of its active ingredient (2.5%, 5% and 10%), it can be adapted to the specific needs of each patient. In this case, it comes in a 60g tube format with a concentration of 5% benzoyl peroxide.
