Peroxiben 25 mg/G Gel 30 g

It is a gel medicine formulated with benzoyl peroxide, an active ingredient with antimicrobial and sebostatic activity that stops the growth of Propionibacterium acne, the microorganism that causes acne.

Suitable for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age who suffer from moderate acne vulgaris.

Apply a small amount of gel to the area to be treated, previously cleaned and dried. It can be used once or twice a day, depending on the intensity of the process and the skin's own tolerance.

It is recommended to start treatment with Peroxiben 2.5% gel, as it contains the lowest dose of this active ingredient. Once tolerance has been checked, Peroxiben 5% or even 10%can be used if the skin is well tolerated after 3-4 weeks.

Improvement is generally observed after 4-6 weeks of treatment, although longer use may be necessary.

Do not use Peroxiben 2.5%:

• In children under 12 years of age.

• In case of allergy to the active substance or any of the excipients present in this medicinal product.

• On areas of damaged or eczematous skin, or on cuts or abrasions.

Special care should be taken by people with very sensitive skin, as its use may cause skin irritation and some redness.

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding, unless prescribed by a doctor.

Peroxiben 2.5% may cause side effects, as is the case with all medicines on the market. In this case, the following have been observed:

• Very frequent: slight burning sensation with the first application and the appearance, after a few days, of moderate redness, dryness and peeling of the skin. During the first weeks of treatment a sudden increase in scaling, redness, itching and pruritus may occur in most patients, this is not harmful and usually disappears within a day or two if treatment is temporarily discontinued.

• Rare: allergic dermatitis.

• Unknown frequency: temporary facial swelling, dermatitis or rash.

Each gram of Peroxiben gel contains 25 mg of benzoyl peroxide as the main active ingredient. The other excipients are: glycerol, aloe vera gel, carbomer, acrylic copolymer, simethicone, sodium hydroxide, disodium edetate, dioctylsulphosuccinate sodium and purified water.

Peroxiben is a very commonly used acne gel that can be complemented with a multitude of treatments and products for this skin disorder.
