Nicorette Clear patches are used to relieve withdrawal symptoms and reduce nicotine cravings that occur when you are trying to quit smoking.

It is a transdermal patch and is similar to a plaster that contains the medicine on the part that sticks to the skin.
This medicine is indicated for the relief of nicotinewithdrawal symptoms in nicotine dependence as an aid to smoking cessation.
This treatment is indicated for adult smokers over 18 years of age.
The recommended dosage varies depending on the type of therapy to be followed by the patient:
Monotherapy: it is recommended to start using 1 patch of 15 mg/16 hours per day for 8 weeks. Thereafter, a tapering of the initial dose should be started, using 1 patch of 10 mg/16 hours per day for 4 weeks.

The duration of treatment is about 3 months, but may vary depending onindividualresponse.This medicine should not be used for more than 6 months unless recommended andsupervisedby a doctor.
Behavioural therapy and support generally increase the likelihood of success.
Nicotine administration should be temporarily stopped if any symptoms of nicotine withdrawal occur.The nicotine dose should bedecreased if symptoms of nicotine withdrawal persistafter resuming treatment.
Combination therapy:Highly dependent smokers or smokers who were unable to quit smoking with Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) monotherapy alone may use Nicorette Clear transdermal patches in combination with flexible oral nicotine cessation dosing for rapid relief of cravings.
The oralformats to consider in combination with Nicorette Clear are 2 mg nicotine lozenges , 2mgnicotine lozenges or nicotine mouth spray solution 1mg/spritz.
Smokers should use the same dosing recommendations as for monotherapy for the patch and for the chosen oral flexible format. For the dosing recommendations for the chosen flexible format, the user needs to refer to the product information for this flexible format.
For combination therapy, users are advised to use only one flexible format over a 24 h period.
The patch should be placed on an undamaged area of skin upon rising and removed at bedtime.
Nicorette Clear should be applied to a clean, dry, hairless area on any area of the trunk, upper arm or hip. The area of application should be varied each day, allowing several days to elapse before reapplying.
1. Wash hands before applying the patch.
2. Cut off one side of the pouch containing the patch with scissors.
3. Peel off half of the laminate, trying not to touch the adhesive surface with your fingers.
4. Place the adhesive part of the patch on the chosen area and remove the other half of the silver laminate.
5. Press the patch onto the skin with the palm of your hands or fingertips.
6. Check that the patch is firmly attached by running your fingers along the edge of the patch.
After16 hours, remove the patch with a tug and discard it carefully.
The patient should make every effort to stop smoking completely during treatment with Nicorette Clear.

As with all medicines, Nicorette patches may cause side effects. This does not mean that everyone will experience side effects. In this case, the following have been observed:
If you notice any of the following serious side effects, stop using Nicorette Clear 10 mg/16 hour transdermal patches and contact your doctor immediately: hives (skin condition characterised by itching and red patches), swollen face, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing.
Please note that the very act of quitting smoking may cause symptoms such as dizziness, headache, sleep problems, cough and cold-like symptoms. Adverse effects are usually dependent on the dose you take. Symptoms such as depression, irritability, anxiety, restlessness, increased appetite and insomnia may also be related to smoking cessation.
Each 9cm2transdermal patchcontains 15.75 mg of nicotine and delivers a nicotine dose of 0.62 mg/h for 16 hours.
It is advisable to change the area of application to avoid irritation in the area that could be caused by always putting it on the same area.
