What is it and what is it for?

The Fortune 2-way Foley catheter with balloon manufactured by PRIM is a medical device designed for the elderly or adults who have difficulty urinating normally. Its use is based on the fact that one end of the catheter must pierce the bladder, allowing the accumulated urine to pass to the outside. The other end of the catheter is attached to a disposable medical bag which, when filled to a reasonable capacity, must be discarded and replaced with a new one.

This probe has the specific features of a 24 FR size with a 5 to 10 ml / cc balloon and a 420 mm long tube. Radiopaque line and probe cap are included.

The material of which the probe is made is medical silicone, this will help the product not to be rejected by the body and to have a high biocompatibility. The tube is transparent to allow observation of the fluid withdrawn from the bladder to see if it is working properly.

The balloon is soft and is placed in the portion of the tube that is attached to the bladder. Its function is to help fix the catheter in place. The very end has a rounded and very soft tip so that, at the time of insertion and removal, it does not cause any trauma or mild pain.

Who is it suitable for?

It is mainly indicated for men who need a catheter for any justifiable medical reason. Its specific use is to help drain urine that accumulates in the bladder and transfer it to a disposable medical bag.

Instructions for use

It is advisable to allow a healthcare professional to place the catheter properly and optimally to prevent complications. It is also advisable to take antibiotics when changing the catheter to reduce the likelihood of infection.

Avoid removing it from its sterile case if it is not going to be used, once it is contaminated it cannot be used. Keep out of reach of children. Do not attempt to insert if you do not have the necessary knowledge or tools to do so. Avoid use in individuals with hypersensitivity to silicone.
