The Fortune Foley catheter is a single-use medical device used for bladder drainage and is made of transparent silicone. It has 2 arms, an evenly inflated balloon and a rounded tip.
The Fortune 2-way Foley catheter with built-in balloon is a urinary catheter made of medical grade silicone. Its tubing is transparent to allow visual inspection and observation of fluids. The soft balloon that has been evenly inflated makes it easy for the tube to adhere to the bladder. This creates a completely smooth surface that reduces friction within the urethra, and therefore patient discomfort.
It incorporates a curved, cylindrical and delicate tip in order to reduce possible trauma when inserting and removing the catheter. It has two holes that support the catheterisation of the urethra permanently and durably.
The Foley catheter has two arms: one to facilitate the drainage of the patient's urine and the other where the balloon is inflated with sterile water. The catheter is made of natural latex which is coated with medical grade silicone. It incorporates a lateral eye to minimise the possibility of trauma to the urethral mucosa.
It is hypoallergenic, non-toxic and free of fever-causing agents (pyrogens). This catheter has been sterilised with ethylene oxide and is presented in individual double sterilised packaging. Another important feature of the Fortune 2-way catheter is that it helps to reduce the accumulation of urinary sediment. The catheter should be used immediately after removal from its original packaging to avoid contamination.
The Fortune 2-Way Foley catheter is suitable for people with incontinence and urinary retention, who must use a urinary catheter to allow fluids to pass to and from the bladder. It is also recommended for people who are undergoing post-operative prostate or genital surgery and for those with chronic conditions where urination is difficult.
Asepsis must be ensured by following established protocols, using a sterile glove. The balloon is used only with distilled or sterile water. The Foley catheter must be lubricated before insertion. Apply gentle pressure on the valve in order to evacuate and fill the balloon.
Not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to latex, or in those with organic rejection of the catheter, in which case it should be discontinued immediately.
