What is it and what is it for?

Fortune Foley Catheter 2-Way Balloon 5 ml Size Ch22 is a medical device used to drain the urinary bladder. It is designed to remain in the bladder for an extended period of time. The catheter consists of a flexible silicone tube with a balloon at one end and an outlet at the other end for connection to a urine drainage system. The balloon is inflated with water or air after the catheter is inserted into the bladder and this prevents the catheter from slipping out of the bladder.

Who is it indicated for?

For the following profiles:

  • Spinal cord or peripheral nervous system injuries affecting bladder function.
  • Abdominal or pelvic surgeries that may affect bladder function.
  • Acute or chronic prostatitis, which may cause urinary retention.
  • benign prostatic hypertrophy, which may cause obstruction of urine flow.
  • prostate cancer, which can cause obstruction of the urethra and urinary retention.
  • Stress urinary incontinence in patients with overactive bladder.
  • Hospitalised patients who are unable to urinate voluntarily, due to their clinical condition.

Instructions for use

Please note that the two-way silicone Foley catheter with balloon is a medical device that must be inserted by a trained professional.

  1. Wash your hands and put on sterile gloves.
  2. Select the appropriate size of the two-way silicone Foley balloon catheter based on the patient's needs.
  3. Lubricate the catheter with a water-soluble lubricant to facilitate insertion.
  4. Clean the patient's genital area with an antiseptic solution.
  5. Insert the two-way silicone Foley balloon catheter into the patient's urethra slowly until it reaches the bladder.
  6. Inflate the balloon at the end of the catheter with water or air, according to the manufacturer's instructions, to secure the catheter in the bladder and prevent displacement.
  7. Connect the other end of the catheter to a urine collection system.
  8. Regulate the flow of urine through the valve on the catheter.
  9. Periodically check the condition of the catheter, the patient's urinary function and the urine collection system.
  10. When catheter removal is necessary, inflate the balloon to detach the catheter from the bladder wall and remove the catheter slowly.
