Not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to yeast, pregnancy and lactation, liver or kidney disease. Red yeast rice should not be combined with drugs such as fibrates, statins, cyclosporine, protease inhibitors, erythromycin, telithromycin, antifungals (such asitraconazole, ketoconazole), nefazodone and high doses of niacin. People taking anticoagulants should consult their doctor before taking the supplement and monitor prothrombin time at the start of treatment.
