It is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for the proper absorption of calcium in the intestine¹, which regulates cell growth².

Its deficiency is associated with rickets (abnormal development) in children and osteomalacia in adults¹. In addition to calcium absorption, it is involved in²:

VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENTATION RECOMMENDATIONS

• Preterm infants less than 1 year old : 200 IU/kg/day - 400 IU/day
• Breastfed infants over 1 year of age : 400 IU/day
• Formula-fed infants over 1 year old who ingest less than 1 litre of formula per day: 400 IU/day
• Children over 1 year and adolescents : promote vitamin D production through sun exposure for 10-15 minutes in spring, summer and autumn (without sun protection).
