It is a medicine for the external vaginal area formulated with clotrimazole, an antifungal active ingredient that acts against fungal infections. More specifically, it treats vulvovaginal candidiasis, a type of infection caused by a fungus commonly called Candida, by relieving the symptoms.
Common symptoms of candidiasis include itching, increased vaginal discharge, pain and redness of the vaginal and vulvar area, as well as a burning sensation when urinating and burning.

Intended for use in women and adolescents over 12 years of age who suffer from vulvovaginal candidiasis.
The tablets of this medicine are taken vaginally.
One vaginal tablet daily, preferably in the evening before going to bed, is usually sufficient for 6 consecutive days.
Vaginal tablets require adequate moisture conditions in the vagina for optimal dissolution of the medicine. If the vaginal tablet does not dissolve properly after administration, consult your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the possibility of alternative treatments.
Do not use Gine-Canesten tablets:
In children under 12 years of age.
In case of allergy or hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, imidazoles or any of the other ingredients included in this medicine.
Gine-Canestén cVaginal tablets may cause side effects, as with other medicines, but this does not mean that all people will suffer from them. Specifically, the following have been observed:
Irritation of the genital area, itching, rash, scaling, burning.
Edema, erythema, pelvic pain, vaginal discomfort, vaginal bleeding.
Abdominal pain.
Allergic reactions such as urticaria, hypotension, difficulty breathing or syncope.
The active substance in Gine-Canesten tablets is clotrimazole. Each vaginal tablet contains 100 mg clotrimazole. The other excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose (E460i), lactic acid (E270), calcium lactate pentahydrate, maize starch, hypromellose, colloidal anhydrous silica, crospovidone (E1202), magnesium stearate.
