Epistaxol is a topical solution that facilitates blood clotting, producing vasoconstriction. It is therefore indicated in processes in which there is slight mucosal bleeding (whether nasal, vaginal, rectal or oral).
Suitable for use in adults and children over 7 years of age.
Apply directly to the bleeding area or with a treatment gauze.
Do not use Epistaxol in children under 7 years of age.
Special care in pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to adrenaline or flavonoids, if you have heart problems, if you suffer from glaucoma, high blood pressure or hyperthyroidism.
This medicine contains sodium metabisulphite, it may cause severe allergic reactions and bronchospasm.
Like all medicines, Epistaxol skin solution may cause side effects:
Frequent adverse reactions: increased heart rate, abnormal contraction of the heart, hallucinations, mydriasis....
Very frequent adverse reactions: sensation of fear, anxiety, throbbing headache, sweating, nausea, tachycardia, pallor...
The active ingredients of Epistaxol are: epinephrine hydrochloride, rutoside, naphazoline hydrochloride, phenazone. One millilitre of solution contains 0.5 mg epinephrine hydrochloride, 0.2 mg rutoside, 0.5 mg naphazoline hydrochloride and 30 mg phenazone.
The other excipients are: sodium metabisulphite (E-223), chlorobutanol and purified water.
This medicine has a clear or slightly yellowish solution.
For proper administration of this medicine, soak the gauze and tightly pack the bleeding area for 5-10 minutes. Leave the dressing on for one hour and then check that it is no longer bleeding.
