ANTI-PARASITE COLLAR
Prevender special flea collar for dogs.
Effective anti-parasite collar specially designed for use on dogs. It is effective for the prevention and treatment of external parasites in dogs caused by fleas. It is effective for 200 days (6 and a half months). Manufactured by Virbac Laboratory.
This collar has a special effect against fleas of the species Ctenocephalides canis and felis, but prevents infestations caused by ticks of the species Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor variabilis and Otobius megnini, offering complete protection against parasites.
The Prevender® line consists of anti-parasitic collars for dogs that incorporate in their matrix an organophosphate insecticide called Diazinon, whose mechanism of action is to inhibit acetylcholinesterase. The insecticide can enter the parasite by suction or through the cuticle due to its high lipid solubility. At the nerve synapse a nerve impulse is transmitted by acetylcholine (Ach), once the message is transmitted, Ach is destroyed by the action of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, so the impulse is nullified for further transmission.
As the action of Ach is cancelled, the transmission of nerve impulses cannot be interrupted and muscle contraction leads to paralysis and death of the parasite. Only insects have cholinergic synapses in the central nervous system, so the signs in insects are hyperexcitability, convulsions, paralysis and finally death. Unique in that it contains the active ingredient in the matrix of the collar together with the fat-soluble vehicle, so that the release is slow and controlled (maximum safety) and is not inactivated by water (maximum effectiveness).
Small and medium dog (30 g): Diazinon 4.50 g, large dog (42 g): Diazinon 6.30 g.
Place the collar around your dog's neck, leaving two fingers between the collar and the skin. Cut the excess part of the collar so that it fits snugly. If the animal is growing, do not forget to adjust it weekly.
For external use only, avoid contact with mucous membranes, not recommended for use in animals under 6 months, pregnant or lactating females and sick or convalescent animals. In case of signs of intolerance by the animal, such as skin irritation, remove the collar. Consult your Veterinarian.
If the animal shows signs of intolerance, bathe the animal with plenty of water to remove the product. The collar has a bitter taste so it is generally rejected by the pet, but in case of ingestion it is not recommended to induce vomiting and administer supportive therapy. Do not use in combination with other insecticides, remove the collar with any sign of irritation. The collar should be worn at all times. The collar is not affected by water or moisture, however, it is recommended to remove before bathing.
