This ointment is used to relieve muscle aches and pains caused by heavy physical exertion required by some manual labour, sports and physical exercises. Red Tiger Balm can be used to reduce discomfort, stiffness and pain in the joints of your hands, arms, feet and legs caused by rheumatism and arthritis. You can also use it to alleviate problems caused by poor blood circulation.
Its application to areas of the body compromised by sporting activity or physical work during the day will reduce muscle and joint discomfort. In addition, it will relax the tissues by increasing blood circulation, anaesthetising muscles and joints with acute pain.
- Massage: On areas of the body with bruised muscles or muscles with contractures, discomfort and pain, red tiger balm is applied with the fingers of the hands followed by massaging, grasping the muscle mass in the same way as flour is kneaded with the hands to make bread. The bruised or painful area of the body is rubbed with firm, slow and regular movements with both hands for several minutes, until the muscle stiffness is loosened.
- Rubbing: this is done on the joints with problems and pain, applying a little of this ointment followed by rapid, gentle friction with the hands on the skin, warming the joint area with tendons and muscles affected by the rheumatic affection and pain. Frictions of this ointment are also applied to bruises, sprains, neck and shoulder affected by torticollis to remove stiffness. Frictions with this liniment are also used to warm up the muscles of sportsmen and women before training or competition. In addition, its use on sprained joints relieves pain and reduces inflammation of the ligaments.
Very few people have reported problems after using red tiger balm. Some considerations to be taken into account to avoid side effects are:
- Skin irritations: this liniment may cause superficial skin irritation, avoid getting it in your eyes, mucous membranes and skin wounds. Do not use sales, hot water bottles or heat sources after applying red tiger balm because it can irritate your skin.
- Tingling: few people have experienced tingling symptoms when using red tiger balm; although it is nothing serious to worry about, the tingling is often unpleasant.
- Allergic reactions: all natural products contain chemical elements. These can generate counterproductive reactions in people who are allergic to any of the natural ingredients in red tiger balm. The few reactions reported are itching, stinging and hives.
- Chemical burns: do not use in your intimate regions or where your skin is sensitive, as red tiger balm can cause chemical injury and serious discomfort.
- Unintentional overdose: as a precaution, avoid getting red tiger balm in your eyes and ingesting it. It is formulated for external use. Do not use on children under 4 years of age. It can be fatal if ingested by a child.
- Respiratory difficulties: although there are no reports of serious problems, before use it is advisable to apply a little red tiger balm to a small area to check if you are allergic, to avoid further damage when applied liberally.
- Pregnant women: There are no studies on the effects of red tiger balm on the foetus of pregnant mothers or newborn babies. We do not recommend its use if you are pregnant.
- Hypersensitivity to its components: you may be sensitive to some elements of red tiger balm if you use it too often or apply it excessively.
