Most tutors say that their dogs love wearing their ThunderShirts and can wear them for long periods of time. But, keep the following recommendations in mind: we recommend removing the ThunderShirt waistcoat every hour or two for the first few times to make sure your pet is happy. It is very rare for the waistcoat to cause skin irritation or other problems, but it is always best to be careful. And, always remove the ThunderShirt waistcoat at least twice a day if worn for extended periods of time.
What kind of training is necessary to wear ThunderShirt?

What if I see signs of discomfort or irritation in my dog when wearing ThunderShirt?

How to clean ThunderShirt?
ThunderShirt is made of durable, washable fabric. It can be washed on a regular cold wash cycle. Make sure all velcro fasteners are closed to avoid the risk of snagging other garments during washing. Hang to dry.
Is overheating a concern when using ThunderShirt?
Except in extreme conditions (32°C in the sun), overheating is not usually a concern when wearing ThunderShirt. Dogs cool themselves primarily through their mouths when panting and their paws. The ThunderShirt is made of a thin, breathable fabric.
Are there any special size and fit considerations for male dogs?
When placing ThunderShirt on a male dog, the straps that go around the stomach area should not cover or press against the genitals. If ThunderShirt rubs against the genitals, it can cause irritation. If you see any indication of this, remove ThunderShirt immediately. Try a smaller size or contact us for other suggestions.
