Rueda Farma reinforced alcohol 70º is a broad-spectrum disinfectant with proven efficacy in the eradication of most microorganisms found on the surface of objects or skin. This antiseptic can be used for the antisepsis of healthy skin and thus facilitate the destruction of 90 % of bacteria in the dermis, if it is kept moistened with the product for a period of 2 minutes. In this sense, it is used as a preventive method before the application of injections. It is also used in the asepsis of surgical instruments to prevent the risk of cross-infection. In addition, alcohol vapours when inhaled help to unclog the airways and nasal passages, as well as providing relief from nausea and aiding recovery from low blood pressure.
Alcohol has also been used as a preservative or as an astringent in the cosmetics industry. Seventy proof alcohol has a slow but more effective antiseptic capacity compared to 96 proof alcohol. This is because it is a more diluted alcohol, containing 30 % water and 70 % ethanol, unlike 96° alcohol, which has a higher ethanol concentration but a lower antiseptic capacity due to its rapid evaporation.
