What is Rhinocort Nasal Spray and what is it used for?

It is a medicine that belongs to the glucocorticoid group. Its active ingredient is budesonide, which is used to reduce inflammation of the nasal mucosa.

It is used to relieve the symptoms of rhinitis, such as itching, sneezing, runny nose and congestion.

Who it is for

Suitable for use in adults over 18 years of age.

How to use

Apply 2 sprays every 12 hours in each nostril.

When full relief of symptoms is achieved, it can be administered once a day.

Contraindications

  • Do not use Rhinocort in children under 18 years of age.

  • Consult your doctor before starting this treatment if you have nosebleeds, if you have had nose ulcers, if you have ever had glaucoma or cataracts, if you have an eye infection, if you have liver problems or if you have diabetes.

  • This medicine contains potassium sorbate (may cause local reactions such as dermatitis).

  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding: a doctor should be consulted.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Rhinocort Nasal Spray may cause side effects:

  • Frequent adverse reactions: infection of the nose, throat or sinuses, headache, ear infection.

  • Very common side effects: abdominal discomfort, fever, muscle cramps.

Composition

The active substance in Rhinocort Nasal Spray is budesonide. The other excipients are: disodium edetate, potassium sorbate (E 202), anhydrous glucose, microcrystalline cellulose (E 460) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (E 466), polysorbate 80 (E 433), hydrochloric acid and purified water.

Rhinocort nasal spray comes in a brown glass bottle with a pump and a nasal applicator.

Before using the bottle, it is advisable to release 2 or 3 sprays into the air to charge the nasal applicator.

Before applying the medicine, you should remove any existing nasal fluids by blowing your nose thoroughly. Then, with your head upright, spray quickly and inhale at the same time.

Always use the lowest dose that is effective.
