Kiltix Antiparasitic Collar Composition Each 10 g of collar contains 1.0 g of propoxur and 0.225 g of flumethrin. Description Propoxur is an ectoparasiticide of the carbaminic acid type which inhibits the cholinesterase enzyme of parasites causing paralysis and death of fleas, ticks and other harmful ectoparasites. However, toxicity to mammals is low Flumetrin is an ectoparasiticide of the synthetic pyrethroid group which has a neurotoxic action on the nerve cell membrane of parasites. After an initial state of excitation, the parasites suffer from coordination disorders, paralysis and eventually die. Flumetrin has a remarkable acaricidal activity and the active ingredients are continuously released from the collar formulation. The insecticidal concentrations of both active ingredients are present in the dog's coat during the entire period of efficacy. The combination of propoxur and flumethrin significantly enhances the efficacy against ticks and fleas compared to each individual treatment. This is also demonstrated by a considerable extension of the efficacy period. The active ingredients are continuously released from the collar formulation.
