Buscapine is a medicine for the treatment of spasms of the gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary tract in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Buscapine is a medicine used primarily to treat spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract and genitourinary tract in adults and children over 6 years of age, with antispasmodic properties that act on the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal, biliary and genitourinary tract.
Buscapine is used to control spasms of the gastrointestinal, biliary and genitourinary tract in adults and children over 6 years of age.
Do not take Buscapina:
- If you are under 6 years of age.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
- If you are allergic to scopolamine butylbromide or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you suffer from narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, urinary retention, mechanical stenosis of the gastrointestinal tract or pylorus, intestinal paralysis or tachycardia, megacolon or myasthenia gravis.
Buscapine 10 mg is administered orally. The recommended dose for adults and children over 6 years of age is 1 to 2 film-coated tablets, 3 to 5 times a day, not exceeding the maximum dose of 10 tablets a day.
Buscapine may cause side effects, as with all medicines, but this does not mean that everyone will experience them. These effects are:
- Rare: skin reactions such as itching or hives, abnormal sweating, dry mouth.
- Rare: urinary retention.
- Unknown frequency: anaphylactic reaction, anaphylactic shock, dyspnoea, hypersensitivity or erythema.
Each tablet of Buscapine contains 10 mg scopolamine butylbromide as the main active ingredient. The other excipients are: hidrógeno fosfato de calcio, almidón de maíz seco, almidón de maíz soluble, sílice coloidal anhidra, ácido tartárich (E 334), stearic-palmitic acid, povidone, sucrose, talc, gum arabic, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, carnauba wax and white wax.
Buscapine tablets is a medicine whose active ingredient is an alkaloid derived from belladonna atropa, which relaxes smooth muscles in the genitourinary, gastrointestinal and biliary tracts, reducing spasms.
It comes in the form of round, biconvex tablets that are easy to swallow and should be taken with water without chewing.
