Medicine with povidone iodine with antiseptic action, indicated for disinfecting wounds in children.
Betadine 10 mg/ml is a mouthwash solution, specifically indicated for children, and can be used from the age of 6 years and older. It can also be used by adults to relieve conditions such as canker sores, minor mouth infections, hoarseness, bad breath or hoarseness.
The recommended dose of betadine oral solution for adults and children over 6 years of age would be 15 ml 2 or 3 times a day. Ideally, it should be used after brushing teeth, rinsing the mouth and gargling with betadine 10 mg/ml mouthwash, without exceeding the above-mentioned dose, i.e. no more than 2 or 3 times a day.
In rare cases of irritation or allergy, discontinue treatment and wash the affected area with water.
Rare side effects (may affect 1 to 10 in 10,000 people) are hypersensitivity and contact dermatitis manifested by red skin, small blisters and itching.
Very rarely (may affect less than 1 in 10,000 people), anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reaction), hyperthyroidism with tachycardia and agitation, and angioedema (allergy-induced swelling) have been observed.
Other adverse effects of unknown frequency have been hypothyroidism, electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, pneumonitis (aspiration complications - see section "Warnings and precautions"), acute renal failure, abnormal blood osmolarity, dry skin and chemical skin burn.
The active substance is povidone iodine. Each ml of solution contains 10 mg povidone iodine.
The other ingredients (excipients) are: Ethanol 96%, glycerol 85%, cineol, levomenthol, saccharin sodium, citric acid monohydrate, disodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydroxide, potassium iodate, purified water.
This betadine solution is for gargling, not for swallowing or swallowing. Particular care should be taken in young children.
