Antidol Infantil 100 Mg/Ml Oral Solution, 1 bottle 90 ml

This medicine is indicated for the temporary relief of mild to moderate pain such as headaches, muscle pain (contractures), dental pain or back pain (lumbago), as well as being useful in cases of fever. It is an ideal choice for those who need an effective and easy to use pain reliever.

This medicine is intended for adults and adolescents who are 16 years of age or older (or have a body weight of more than 50 kg), as well as children weighing between 3 and 32 kg (approximately 0 to 10 years).

Antidol 100 mg/ml should be administered orally. For adults and adolescents over 16 years of age, the contents of the sachet should be dissolved in a glass of water. In children, the solution is dosed in millilitres (ml) using the 5 ml oral syringe included in the pack.

Use in children

It is intended for short-term use in children between 3 and 32 kg (approximately 0 to 10 years). In children under 2 years of age, the dose should always be established by your doctor.

The dose of paracetamol depends on the weight of the child. The recommended daily dose is approximately 60 mg/kg/day, divided into 4 to 6 daily doses, i.e. 15 mg/kg every 6 hours or 10 mg/kg every 4 hours.

For administration of 15 mg/kg every 6 hours, the schedule is as follows:

For a direct calculation, the child's weight in kg can be multiplied by 0.15; the result is the ml of medicine to be administered. These doses can be repeated every 6 hours.

For adults and adolescents over 16 years of age (weighing more than 50 kg):

• Take 1 sachet (100 mg/ml paracetamol) every 6 to 8 hours, up to a maximum of 3 times a day.

Do not exceed the dose of 1 sachet of paracetamol per dose. Do not take more than 3 sachets of paracetamol in a 24-hour period. The use of this medicine is conditional on the presence of symptoms such as pain or fever, and should be discontinued when these symptoms disappear.

If pain persists for more than 5 days, fever for more than 3 days, or if pain or fever worsen or new symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor for further clinical evaluation.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Some possible side effects of paracetamol are:

• Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): these include discomfort, low blood pressure (hypotension) and high blood transaminase levels.
• Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10.000 people): kidney disease, cloudy urine, allergic dermatitis (skin rash), jaundice (yellowing of the skin), blood disorders (agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, haemolytic anaemia), low blood glucose and hypoglycaemia.

Severe skin reactions and liver damage at high doses or prolonged treatment have been reported very rarely.

Paracetamol should be used with particular caution in the following circumstances:

• Do not take more medicine than recommended in the section on how to take Antidol.
• In patients with liver, kidney, heart or lung disease and in patients with anaemia (decreased haemoglobin levels in the blood), consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
• If you have liver problems, including those caused by excessive alcohol consumption (3 or more alcoholic drinks per day).
• If you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
• If you suffer from anorexia, bulimia, cachexia or chronic malnutrition.
• Dehydration or hypovolaemia.
• In chronically malnourished or dehydrated children, as it may increase liver toxicity.
• If you are being treated with medicines for epilepsy, consult your doctor before taking this medicine, as the combined use may decrease the efficacy and increase the liver toxicity of paracetamol, especially with high doses of paracetamol.
• If you have Gilbert's disease (also known as Meulengracht's disease).
• If you have heart failure, respiratory failure or anaemia; in such cases, administration should be under supervision and only for short periods.
• Drinking alcoholic beverages may cause paracetamol to cause liver damage.
• If you are asthmatic and sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid.

Prolonged or inappropriate use of painkillers at high doses may cause headache, which should not be treated by increasing the dose of the medicine. Avoid prolonged treatment.

The active substance is paracetamol. Each sachet or ml of solution contains 100 mg/ml paracetamol.

For the effervescent sachet version, the other ingredients are: sodium hydrogencarbonate, anhydrous citric acid, sorbitol (E420), saccharin sodium, orange flavouring (contains maltodextrin (maize), sucrose, gum arabic), sodium lauryl sulphate, povidone K-30, and anhydrous citric acid.

For oral solution, the other ingredients (excipients) are: macrogol 400, glycerol (E-422), saccharin sodium, strawberry flavouring, raspberry flavouring (contains propylene glycol (E-1520)), flavour masking agent (contains potato maltodextrin), azorubin (E-122), and purified water.

This medicinal product should not be used in the following cases:

• If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients of this medicinal product.

• Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. In case you have missed a dose, take another dose as soon as possible and continue with the usual schedule. However, if the time of the next dose is very close, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at your usual time.
• For children under 2 years of age, you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
