Consists of a flexible polyamide net covered by a layer of soft Safetac silicone. Non-absorbent, for the treatment of venous, arterial and medium-depth pressure ulcers.

Indications

Treatment of venous, arterial and medium-depth pressure ulcers.

Instructions for use

Provides a selective micro-adherent interface with the lesion and surrounding skin, which:- Does not adhere to or traumatise the surface of the lesion - Gently adheres to and protects the surrounding skin - Removes with minimal pain and without damaging the newly formed, delicate tissue. Its open net-like structure allows exudate to pass into the secondary absorbent dressing. Minimises maceration due to the sealing effect on the surrounding skin. The micro-adherence and open, web-like structure allows exudate to move vertically, not laterally, into the secondary absorbent dressing. Application:Clean the lesion carefully with saline preferably, if necessary dry the surrounding skin.Choose the size that covers the lesion and surrounding skin by at least 1 cm. If necessary cut it off before removing the protective papers. If more than one unit is required, overlap the dressings, making sure that the pores are not clogged, holding on to the larger protective paper, remove the smaller one. If gloves are used, wet them to prevent sticking to the gloves and apply to the lesion. Spread in place and fix it to the surrounding skin.remove the other protective paper.apply a secondary absorbent gauze dressing or similar on top. In contoured areas or joints (e.g. armpits, under the breast, behind the knees, groin) it is advisable to check if all the dressing material is properly positioned to keep Mepitel extended in contact with the lesion. When used on medium-depth pressure ulcers, Mepitel should be used to cover the walls of the ulcer, filling the cavity with gauze and fixing the area with a suitable adhesive. It can be used under compressive bandages in the treatment of venous ulcers and maintains moisture in the lesion. In clean ulcers, and especially in the granulation-epithelialisation phase, it works very effectively without the need to add any other topical treatment. If the lesion presents slough or fibrin debris, the porous structure allows the use in combination with hydrogels and enzymatic ointments, indicated to promote debridement. Silicone is inert and does not react with these products. Clinical practice recommends changes every 5 days (exudate can pass freely into the dressing without clogging the pores). If the secondary absorbent dressing, gauze or similar, becomes saturated, it can be replaced by leaving it in place. Single-use dressing.

Precautions and warnings

Can be used on infected lesions under the supervision and care of a health care professional. If topical treatment is recommended, Mepitel can be combined with antibiotic ointments. In general, if the condition of the lesion deteriorates, consult a healthcare professional for appropriate medical treatment. When Mepitel is used on ulcers with a very viscous exudate, the gauze covering Mepitel should be moistened, e.g. with saline. Sterility is guaranteed unless the unit pack is damaged or opened before use. Do not re-sterilise.
