Its use is suitable for the relief of mild to moderate painful processes in joints by means of intra-articular infiltrations.

Hyaluronic acid injections restore viscosity and elasticity and lead to less pain and improved joint mobility . Format 3ml glass syringe of hyaluronic acid for single use.

To be injected once per treatment.

The recommended dose is 3 ml (one syringe) per knee or hip joint. It should only be injected by authorised medical personnel and in appropriate facilities. It should be injected strictly following aseptic techniques. The injection site should be cleaned with alcohol or other suitable antiseptic solution before injecting the drug.

The precautions and warnings described on the product should be taken into account by the personnel in charge of administration.

The safety period for administration after surgery is after 3 months.

• Do not use DUROLANE if there is inflammation or infection in the joint.
• Do not administer if there is infection in the adjacent or nearby skin area.
• Do not re-sterilise to avoid deterioration.
• Do not use in people with venous or lymphatic stasis of the leg.
• Caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
• Precautions should be taken in the use in paediatric patients.
• Use new syringes for each injection. Do not reuse.
• Disinfect the puncture site. There is a risk of infection as it is an invasive method.
• Do not use in people with allergies to hyaluronic acid.
• Postpone re-injection into the same joint for a period of more than 6 months.
• In case of joint pressure it is advisable to check the fluid level. An excess is possible.
• Do not administer in patients with chondrocalcinosis.

Studies on patients receiving DUROLANE hyaluronic acid injections describe some adverse effects:

• Swelling.
• Mild to moderate pain that is palliated with oral analgesics.
• Temporary stiffness of the treated joint.

After 2 or 3 days the undesirable effects disappear completely. If this is not the case, consult the treating specialist. Using the product on more than one joint does not describe or increase the side effects.

Contains 20mg/ml of synthetic hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. Its form of presentation is as liquid sodium hyaluronate at pH7. The way the body assimilates hyaluronic acid is the same for both naturally produced hyaluronic acid and synthetic hyaluronic acid.
