Devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is a plant with serrated leaves, a claw-shaped fruit that attaches to animal hair to improve dispersal and deep roots that penetrate the earth, hence its common name Devil's claw. Its properties are known to various civilisations, such as the Bushmen, who have used it for years. Later, in 1960, it reached Europe, where it began to be widely used.
