This diet for dogs is recommended if your pet suffers from any of these three types of insufficiencies: renal (chronic), hepatic (with the exception of patients with cholestasis) and/or cardiac, hypertension or oedema. It is also indicated for animals with uric acid or cystine lithiasis. Specific CKD Heart & Kidney Support prevents and dilutes calcium oxalate, cystine and urate crystals, reduced protein levels and the alkaline pH of the urine prevents the addition of these crystals. Low sodium levels prevent hypertension, oedema and are essential for optimal functioning of the kidneys, liver and heart. Specific CKD Heart & Kidney Support contains high levels of zinc to support your pet's heart and kidneys. High percentages of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) improve arrhythmia, counteract cachexia, reduce hypertension and platelet aggregation in animals with heart disease. Zeolite neutralises toxic components such as ammonium, reducing uraemia in animals with renal insufficiency and hyperammonemia in dogs with hepatic insufficiency, in which hepatic encephalopathy is also reduced. In addition, this dog food ensures urinary protection for your pet, as it contains restricted amounts of phosphorus, to prevent hyperphosphataemia and delay the progression of nephritic insufficiency. It contains restricted levels of proteins of high biological value to ensure an adequate supply of amino acids and an alkaline pH to reduce azotemia.
