Resveratrol is one of the components of wine, belonging to the family of polyphenols with important biological effects on health and skin, with powerful antioxidant properties, preventing accelerated ageing of our skin (wrinkles, flaccidity) and protecting cellular DNA. Recent scientific studies highlight the action of resveratrol directly on the longevity gene. Resveratrol is capable of triggering a series of metabolic processes related to lifespan through the stimulation of a family of genes (SIRT) and proteins encoding these genes, the sirtuins. In addition, the expression of a type of sirtuin has recently been demonstrated in skin cells, mainly fibroblasts and keratinocytes , making them a target in the treatment of skin rejuvenation by resveratrol.
