Rovi Suppositorios De Glicerina Niños is a medicine whose active ingredient is glycerol, which has a laxative action and is administered rectally. It is indicated for the local symptomatic relief of transient and occasional constipation in children aged 2 to 12 years. Glycerol works by stimulating intestinal peristalsis by drawing water from the mucosa of the rectum into the rectal ampoule, while lubricating and softening the stool. How long does it take to take effect? The effects of the medicine usually appear 15 to 30 minutes after administration.

This medicine is intended for children from 2 to 12 years of age.

How to use

Insert the suppository deeply into the rectum after removing it from the blister pack. Hold the bowel movement as long as possible to allow the medicine to work.

Do not take Rovi Suppositories if:

• If you have an allergic reaction to glycerol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

• If you have inflamed haemorrhoids, haemorrhagic rectocolitis (a type of chronic inflammation of the bowel) or any type of anorectal disease.

• If you experience cramps, colic, nausea, vomiting or other symptoms of appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, acute inflammatory bowel disease, or general abdominal pain without knowing the cause.
• In children under two years of age.

Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Side effects such as anal irritation, pain and itching or anal stinging have been reported during the use of glycerol rectally as a laxative, although their frequency has not been determined. Treatment should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted if there is blood in the stool, irritation, pain or no improvement.

The active substance is 1.375 g glycerol per suppository.

The other ingredients (excipients) are: sodium stearate and sodium carbonate.
