Normobucal 200 mg/ ml Oral Spray Solution 1 Bottle 5 ml

It is atopical anaestheticmedicinethat acts by suppressing pain when applied externally to the area of the mouth to be treated. Its use is indicated for the local relief of dental or mouth pain caused by the rubbing of prostheses, extractions, small mouth wounds, aphthae and small sores.

Suitable for use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Apply a small amount to the area to be anaesthetised, or soak a cotton wool pad and keep applied to the area for a few minutes. Apply a maximum of 3 or 4 times a day.

In children under 12 years of age, this medicine should only be administered under adult supervision. Dosage as above.

Like all medicines, Normobucal may cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. Inthis case,the following adverse effects have occurred during the period of use of benzocaine , the frequency of which cannot be established with certainty:

- Urticaria, oedema, anaphylactoid reaction (contact dermatitis) .

- Cross-reactions with other ester-type local anaesthetics .

- Photosensitivity, bad taste in mouth, dehydration of mucous membranes and swallowing difficulties.

- Mouth burning sensation

- Methaemoglobinaemia, symptoms of which are headache, dizziness, shallow breathing, nausea, fatigue or tachycardia . Methaemoglobinaemia is mainly due to prolonged use and also in cases of overdose.

• If you do not tolerate other local anaesthetics such as para-aminobenzoicacid (PABA), parabens or para-phenylenediamine (a component of hair dye).
  
• If you have a severe or extensive mouth injury.
  
• If you have asthma, bronchitis or emphysema.
• Elderly people who are ill or debilitated should consult a doctor before taking this medicine as they are more sensitive to possible adverse reactions.
  
• Do not ingest, do not inhale.
  
• Avoid contact and/or spraying in the eyes.
  
• Do not eat or drink while numbness of the mouth persists, due to the risk of biting the tongue or oral mucosa and choking.
  
• In people over 65 years of age and in debilitated patients the risk of developing methaemoglobinaemia is increased.
  
• Young children (especially those under 2 years of age) are also at increased risk of developing methaemoglobinaemia.

Each millilitre of Normobucal contains 200 mg of benzocaine. The other ingredients are:saccharin sodium (E-954), polyethylene glycol 400, 96º ethanol and raspberry flavouring.

If symptoms do not improve, worsen or persist after 2 days of treatment, consult a doctor.
