Mepiform silicone scar reducer 4 x 30 cm is a silicone sheet that is designed for the treatment of scars. It works by reducing and flattening old and new scars on the skin.
Mepiform scar reducer is a soft, extra-thin and discreet silicone sheet. It is a product that has a positive effect on the prevention, reduction and matching of hypertrophic and keloid scars with the rest of the skin. It is a waterproof product that can be cut to fit the size of the lesion. With its use, pigmentation, extension and thickness of the scars are alleviated. It has a silicone gel with selective microadhesion. This is a cover that is protected by a protective polyolefin paper. The polyurethane coating, in contact with the outside, makes it impermeable to liquids, but permeable to gases, thus allowing the skin to stay cool and dry.
The adherent silicone sheets are provided with Safetac technology which achieves an adhesive that allows removal of the dressing with minimal pain and trauma. Safetac is the original silicone contact layer that minimises pain. The design of the dressing allows it to conform smoothly to the skin without adhering to the moist wound bed. In this way, the dressing can be removed easily and without damaging the skin. It is a product that prevents wound mishaps and accelerates the natural wound healing process. It is a very effective product that is easy and practical to apply and remove.
It is a dressing indicated for people with scars caused by burns, surgery or other causes.
Open the package and take the dressing. Cut the amount needed to cover the scar, leaving 1 cm above the scar. Make sure the skin is clean and dry. If you are using a cream or other product, wait until it is completely absorbed. Centre the film on the area. Remove the protective paper and place the dressing over the scar, pressing lightly so that it adheres. If applied over a joint, avoid stretching the dressing. Remove once a day to inspect and clean the skin. The same dressing may be reapplied for a period of 3-7 days, or until its adhesive properties are insufficient.
Do not use if any skin reaction such as maceration or rash occurs.
