Enzymes such as amylase have also been added to its composition, which helps to break down carbohydrates and polysaccharides to optimise their absorption. Lipase is also involved in the digestion and breakdown of fats so that they can be better utilised by the body. Protease is also responsible for breaking down proteins for better absorption and to keep the intestines free of microbes and parasites.
On the other hand, cellulase transforms cellulose and chitin so that the body can digest fibre properly. Similarly, lactase is responsible for breaking down lactose into glucose and galactose. Fructo-oligosaccharides with prebiotic activity have also been added to this formulation to stimulate the growth of intestinal microflora. For dogs, 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight should be given twice a day before feeding. In cats, 1/2 tablet per 5 kg of body weight should be administered twice daily before feeding.
