BOLFO COLLAR

Antiparasitic collar
Pharmaceutical form
Necklace (Collar)

Composition per g:
Propoxur 98.7 mg.

Excipients: Titanium dioxide (E 171); iron oxide yellow (E 172); iron oxide red (E 172); iron oxide black (E 172).

Pharmacological properties
Ectoparasiticide for topical use.
Propoxur is a carbamate ectoparasiticide that reversibly inhibits acetylcholinesterase. Due to inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, a toxic accumulation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine at cholinergic nerve endings may be observed, resulting in the death of the ectoparasites.
The spectrum of action includes flies, ticks, fleas and lice in immature and adult forms.

Interactions and incompatibilities
Do not co-administer with other acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, CNS depressants or muscle relaxants.
Do not use in combination with alkaline pH soaps or detergents.

Indications
Dogs and Cats: For the control of infestations by flies, ticks, fleas and lice.

Contraindications
Do not use in sick or convalescent animals.
Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substance and/or to any excipient.
Do not use in cats under 6 weeks of age and in dogs under 3 months of age.
Do not use in animals undergoing topical corticosteroid therapy.
Do not use this medicinal product during lactation.

Adverse reactions
Occasionally, skin hypersensitivity reactions around the neck which disappear when the collar is removed.

Route of administration
Cutaneous use.

Dosage
Dogs and Cats: 1 collar/animal. The animal should wear the collar continuously during the 4 month protection period. The collar should be removed at the end of the treatment. Check the collar periodically and adjust if necessary.

Special Precautions
For animals:
Pet parasites often infest the pet's basket, bedding and regular resting areas such as carpets and furniture, which should be treated with a suitable insecticide and regularly vacuumed or replaced with others.

Collars may lose activity in prolonged contact with water. Intense or prolonged exposure to water or frequent use of shampoos should be avoided. Remove the collar when bathing the animal and replace it when the coat is dry.

Avoid chewing on the collar.

For the person administering the medication:
Propoxur is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Do not use this medicine if you have been told by your doctor that it cannot work with anticholinesterase substances.

Persons with known hypersensitivity to propoxur or any of the excipients should avoid all contact with the collar.

Avoid excessive contact with the collar during fitting. Remove the collar from the protective pouch just before use. Cut off excess collar with scissors and dispose of it properly, do not dispose of it in the trash or in the environment. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying the collar. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water.

Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with the animal's coat after applying the collar. Extreme caution is recommended if the animal lives with children: prevent children from touching the collar, playing with it, biting it or putting it in their mouths. Pets wearing collars should not sleep in bed with their owners, especially children.

If you feel unwell after using this medicine, consult a doctor immediately and show the package leaflet or label to the doctor.

Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the product.
