What is it and what is it for?

ACOFAR Rubber irrigation dabber no. 2 is a healthcare product, developed to promote intestinal health by helping to relieve constipation. It is made of soft PVC, with a capacity of 27 ml.

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for adults with constipation.

Instructions for use

The irrigation bulb should be used as follows:

  • First of all, when using this product, whether for the first time or for several uses, it must be sterilised. Use one of the following methods:
    • Immerse the bulb in hot or boiling water for a maximum of 10 minutes.
    • Sterilise with gas, preferably using ethylene oxide.
    • Use gamma radiation. This method is not as advisable. In addition, it may change the colour of the pear.
  • Once the pear is sterilised, it should be filled with water (35 ml), either cold or lukewarm, depending on the cause of constipation.
    • Cold water stimulates peristalsis, which helps to provide an effective laxative effect to relieve constipation.
    • Warm water is recommended in cases where constipation is specifically caused by the walls of the intestine not allowing waste to pass through. The liquid at a temperature no higher than 38 degrees Celsius will soften the walls of the intestine.
  • When the bulb is full and the water is at the desired temperature, it is advisable to smear a little Vaseline or oil on the tip of the bulb to facilitate its insertion into the anus.
  • Insert and position the patient face down so that the bulb gradually releases the liquid into the anus. In cases where the person feels discomfort or pain, it is usually because the liquid is being expelled too quickly, to prevent this it is advisable to hold the tip of the bulb until the discomfort passes.
  • Hold the fluid for at least 15 minutes, remove the bulb and empty the fluid from the anus.

This whole process can be done 2 to 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the constipation.

Contraindications

It is not advisable to use liquid that is too hot, as it may burn the inner walls of the anus and cause pain, discomfort and serious problems. Avoid using any liquid other than water or any liquid designed for this purpose.
